Drinks Trust responds to Covid-19

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic the Drinks Trust has faced unprecedented levels of demand for assistance, and is working hard to support those in need.

These are challenging times for the drinks and hospitality industry, and it has been heartening to see the way our industry has reacted when faced with a crisis. We wanted to highlight the amazing work of the Drinks Trust charity, and what they are doing in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Drinks Trust (formerly The Benevolent) has been the UK drinks industry community organisation since 1886, providing care and support to the workers of the UK drinks industry, both past and present. It is run by drinks industry professionals, and funded by drinks industry partners and charity fundraising

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic the Trust has faced unprecedented levels of demand for assistance, with up to 3.2 million workers in pubs, bars, restaurants, breweries and the wider hospitality sector facing employment uncertainty after recent Government measures.

The Drinks Trust has responded defiantly by committing to being part of the solution to the challenge we all now face.

In early April, The Drinks Trust launched a COVID-19 Relief Fund which gave one-off grants of £250 to qualifying individuals, prioritizing those with health conditions and also those caring for dependents.

Along with direct financial help, the trust is also committed to providing specialist mental health support for those working in the drinks industry, and is in the process of increasing the capacity of its telephone helpline fivefold at this time of unprecedented demand.

In what is an immensely challenging time for drinks industry workers and their friends and family, this kind of support has never been more important.

The trust relies on the industry’s support to reach those in need, so - please spread the word about this initiative in any way you can.
