Job Description
Job Title : Whisky.Auction Administrator
Department : Whisky.Auction
Contract Term : Permanent, full-time
Contracted Hours : Monday to Friday 9am – 6pm
This equates to a 40 hour working week with 60 minutes unpaid lunch break
Overview of Whisky.Auction
Whisky.Auction is a leading online platform for buying and selling whisky, fine spirits, miniatures and memorabilia. Every team member is required to display knowledge and enthusiasm for the products we’re selling, a passion for excellence, creativity and excellent customer service
Overall objective of role
We are looking for an Auction Administrator who will relish the opportunity to work with an amazing range of old and rare bottles of whisky and fine spirits as well as customers around the world.
You will be trained by the Whisky.Auction Team on all aspects of specialist online spirits auctioneering including how to inspect and catalogue fine, rare and desirable whiskies and other spirits for sale through the website. You will already have some knowledge and interest of the world of whisky, spirits and wines and some understanding of not just the products but their value too.
The role holder will need to demonstrate a genuine attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills as well as and a high degree of flexibility in order to meet the demands of the role. It may be necessary on occasions to work outside normal working hours in order to meet the necessary demands of our client base.
The role holder must be able to adjust to a broad and fluid set of tasks as requirements change in this progressive company.

Primary duties and responsibilities
- Check items for damage and fitness for sale
- Catalogue bottles and accessories when they are received
- Meet customers in person to receive or sell bottles and accessories
Other duties and responsibilities
- Process shipments in line with export regulations
- Process orders when the auction has closed
- Attend key shows and events on behalf of Whisky.Auction
Key skills and knowledge:
Essential
- Excellent written English and descriptive skills
- Strong organisational and planning skills in order to meet required deadlines
- Excellent administrative skills
- High level of numeracy
- IT skills; Microsoft office: word, excel, email
- Accurate and detail-conscious
- A passion for fine, old and rare spirits
Desirable
- Three years of whisky or premium spirits experience from retail or similar
- Be familiar with key players/collectors in whisky market
- A basic understanding of whisky market trends

A training plan will encompass the following to ensure effectiveness of the employee and to meet our safety standards:
- Manual handling
- In-house systems
- Other in-house training as required conducted on an ongoing basis
